Spring and summer are the busiest seasons for moving. As moving season starts we want to make sure you have a smooth transition! If you’re relocating to Idaho Falls, here are some tips to ensure your move is easy!
Tip #1: Make sure your moving company is reputable. If you've had good experience with a long-distance mover before, see if they have a location in Idaho Falls. It’s a good idea to check reviews and get a few estimates before hiring a moving company.
Tip #2: Make a list of all the accounts that will require your address to be updated. Make sure it gets taken care of in a timely manner that easily corresponds with your
move. If you don’t think you caught everything, you can also choose to have your mail forwarded by the United States Postal Services.
Tip #3: Along with taking care of your mail, make sure that you cancel/transfer utilities.
Tip #4: Tune up the car, or if needed, get a full service! Be sure whoever is working on your vehicle knows that you will be moving out-of-state and to perform a thorough road safety check.
Tip #5: It’s most likely that your movers will arrive in a window of time at your new home. Be sure to load anything that’s imperative to your living in your vehicle. This could be kitchen utensils, bathroom towels, medications etc.
Tip #6: When en route, make sure that you’re awake and alert. If you start to feel tired, pull off and take a ten minute cat nap – it could do wonders! Also, be sure to have extra snacks and plenty of water in the car. Avoid driving at night if possible.
Tip #7: It’s likely that you’ll have a different set of movers unload your belongings at your new home. Be sure that you are there when they start to unload. If damage has incurred make sure you fill out the necessary paperwork. It’s also your responsibility to check off that all your items are delivered from the moving company’s master list.
These tips will help ensure that you have an easy transition to Idaho Falls!
